This month sees the reopening of one of London's loveliest hotels, The Savoy (above), after a decadent overhaul of its 258 guest rooms and public areas by designer Pierre Yves Rochon. Expect new features such as the Beaufort Bar for cocktails, the Savoy Tea Shop and a new two-bedroom Royal Suite. There's also 58 Thames-facing River Suites and the River Restaurant, still under Ramsay Holdings but with the brilliant Stuart Gillies at the helm.

British Airways offers one night's accommodation for two, from £175 per person including breakfast during November 2010. Visit or call +44 (0)844 493 0758.

The giant renovation of Mayfair's Connaught Hotel has been unveiled in stages since 2008 and is now complete. Highlights include Michelin-starred Hélène Darroze at the Connaught, the Coburg Bar by Paris designer India Mahdavi, the Connaught Bar by David Collins and a new wing in a mews behind the main hotel, as well as the UK's first Aman Spa.

The Claridge's and Diane von Furstenburg collaboration is a triumph. Twenty rooms will be given the von Furstenberg 'riot of colour and texture' makeover by the end of the year.

The all-singing, all-dancing five-star Corinthia Hotel London, due to open next spring, will feature 300 bedrooms, an inner garden, two restaurants, a cocktail bar called Bassoon, designed by David Collins, and a vast Espa spa.

Hotly anticipated is the Renaissance St Pancras, also due to open next spring, in the extraordinary Gothic revival building above St Pancras Station. Many of the rooms will overlook the station concourse and there will be a Champagne bar in the old ticket office.
